BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING

Attendance: President Mr. Randy Kozlowski, Vice-President Mrs. Beverly Least, Mrs. Erika Waite, Ms. Karen Peterson, Mrs. Mira Boyczuk, Mr. Terry Williams and wife, Sue Williams as guest, Ms. Kim Sanford, Mrs.Wendi Schenkel, Dr. Erika Hutton

Absent: Mrs. Jennifer Barnes, Mrs. Linda Ready, Mrs. Peggy Blidy

III Secretary’s Report – nothing at this time

IV Treasurer’s Report – Randy discussed the investment account: Balance of equity account is $273,728.00 and checking account Is $9,862.00 Richard DiMarzo diversified our portfolio for growth and we were doing well at a 7% growth.

V. New Business
a. Randy noted that Thea discussed needing a formal process for contributions and Randy drafted some guidelines. We put together a Sponsorship Committee:

Erika Waite

Beverly talked about a limit of donations for the year. Randy said the committee will make recommendations to the Board..

Randy noted that the GVBA co-sponsored a cocktail party for the NYTB – Mike McMahon is the President. also Dave Brown with HPBA. Members spent the day at Finger Lakes Track – discussed new state budget and state breeding trends.

VI Committee Reports

Randy discussed our GVBA BBQ at the racetrack – thought we should invite the HPBA members and NYTB directors – we need to pick the date and nametags with name and affiliation would be a good idea.

GVBA Annual Meeting dates would be Thursday, November 15th or Friday, November 16th. Discussed getting Cot Campbell of Dogwood Stables from Aiken, SC.. He has been involved in TB racing –
Beverly and Terry made a motion to find out if he was available.

Discussed that July 4th Funnycide was coming to the Finger Lakes Race Track to participate in the Wadsworth Memorial.

b. Newsletter –
Randy needs to get together with Peggy and Karen Peterson to finish putting together. Discussed pictures for the newsletter – Mira will contact Creekside pictures.

c. Horse Fair –
Ribbons and prizes are ordered. Stalls, tents/table/chairs are ordered Working on the prize list with Genesee Valley Printers and prize list should be sent out in late June or early July.

Randy got approval from board for the GVRDC to use the GBVA Jumps

d. Education
Randy talked about Doug Emerson of Profitable Horsemen has co-branded training sessions with the Genesee Valley Riding and Driving Club. This will also be made available to the GVBA Members. Cazenovia College in the Syracuse area – Barb Lindberg – wondered if GVBA could get involved with educational events at the equestrian college..

Randy discussed scrolling banners on our website for feed stores and farm equipment that could be scrolling on our website – wants to find out more info on this.

Discussed Marcelo our webmaster from Equis Media– Mira was interested in getting the ability to add information to our website – Randy will put together a meeting.

Formed a Racing Committee:

The Committee would give a report to the Board – publish racing information on the website or newsletter – put together the year end award

Discussed NTRA Membership Benefits – co-branding with GVBA- close to 100 members - programs

Discussed updating our brochure – Randy got help from Erika Waite and Dr. Erika Hutton

Horse Expo – Wendy Schenkel attended – 3 days in Syracuse Well attended – various clinics – Finger Lakes TB Rescue was there - Equine Promotions – next year we should contact expo
committee and get a booth of some exposure

Discussed whether we could work out a program where if you joined the GVBA you automatically joined the NYTB – we’d have to look into a program like this.

Briefly discussed the 2005 Equine Survery results– most members had not seen the copy –Mira will scan and send to Randy.

Briefly discussed whether casinos have helped the racetracks. Members felt the additional monies have improved the race track surfaces (turf track/polytrack improvements).
